Obsessed with Facebook – Stats about the world’s most visited website

Last Updated: April 2, 2024

Facebook is used by 1 in every 13 people on earth. Read more stats here:

That’s typical, I guess. Gotta push back “less important” issues to make way for healthcare reform, gay rights, etc.

Talked with a friend last night about the pornography industry. He said something quite true.

“Marriage is between one man and one woman. All those people who try to make those lines hazy are just wasting their time. The porn industry already does a disturbingly good job at it.”

In fact, while I’m here, I have another question.

What is the status on the .XXX domain? Was it approved, or is it going to need a stronger argument? See, I think it is important to have a domain like that. Based on some theories on worldwide trends, I believe the .XXX domain will help corral much of the garbage out there. Sadly, the Utah Coalition Against Pornography disagrees with me. My own home state disagrees…

@Mark – Last we heard, back in December ICANN postponed their discussion with the Governmental Advisory Committee about the .XXX domain issue. You can read about it here.

    I’ve got it.

It says 30% of Facebook users are in the U.S. That means approximately 150 million FB users are in the U.S. And there are 206.2 Internet users in the U.S.

    150,000,000/206,200,000 = 72.7…%

The stats are rounded too much, but it’s fine. I get the point.

How do you find this stuff, anyway?

    • Luke Gilkerson

@Mark – Lots and lots of searches on Google :)

Hmmm…I only fit in one of those statistics. I have an account. But the similarities end there. I haven’t been on since 2008. So I technically am not a user….

Now, I’ve got a question. How does the math for the 71% of Internet users on Facebook work?

    • Luke Gilkerson

@Mark – Having not done the numbers myself, my guess is they are figuring there are 146.8 million Facebook users in the U.S. Who knows what sources they are using and how up-to-date they are?
