Celebrate the Jubilee: a free small group resource for men who struggle with pornography

Last Updated: March 25, 2024

In many men’s small group situations there may be a hesitancy to open up on a deeper level with one another, especially when it comes to confessing sexual sin. Anxiety and fear are often the hurdles which keep men from giving and receiving honest and helpful feedback. Many men don’t speak freely, even with people they trust, about sexual sin. This is a sensitive topic, and many of us are afraid of others finding out about this particular area of sin that we may have.

In order to help men overcome these hurdles, Covenant Eyes has just released a new, free small group resource, Celebrate the Jubilee. This is a tool designed for Christians to explore pornography issues that destroy lives, families and relationships, and to realize what integrity looks like and how it empowers real transformation.

This resource is not your standard Bible study curriculum. Celebrate the Jubilee is an altogether different kind of study. The study is formatted as a script, like a play. Why?

Though the story in the script is fictional, it is based on real situations. Readers will watch as characters begin to open up about matters of integrity. Specifically, the characters will open up about issues of lust and pornography. The script format is designed for men’s groups to identify with the characters as they “open up the can of worms,” and learn how to overcome the hurdles of anxiety and fear. Then it’s your group’s job to deal with the worms.

One reason men often don’t open up to other men is because they have never been shown what that looks like in a small group setting. This format allows the men in your group to see it happen in the script first, and then practice that same openness in their own group. This format can also help some of the quieter men in the group to begin talking.

The script is six chapters long and each chapter can be read aloud in about 15-20 minutes, leaving the rest of your group time to discuss and pray. Each chapter ends with study questions to help prompt discussion.

The study is free and available for non-commercial use.

  • We encourage group leaders to see if the format and content of this study is appropriate for the small groups they lead.
