A Survey on Accountability

Last Updated: March 25, 2024

I had the opportunity to take a survey of a select group a few months ago, and I think the results are interesting.

The group consisted of over 2000 staff members of an established worldwide evangelical ministry. I was able to get enough of the attendees to fill out the survey (nearly 10%) that the results are probably representative of the group.

Since this was a staff conference, the youngest respondent was 19. Approximately 20% of the attendees use Covenant Eyes, either as a member or as an Accountability Partner.

One of the questions was age and gender, so I was able to analyze the results for various groups. Here’s a selection of the results:

1. All groups consider pornography to be a highly significant problem, both in society, and for men in their own group.

2. For women, pornography appears to be less of an issue, but still is quite important to all respondents. The youngest group rated it lowest for women, which means either that the problem is of less significance, or its significance is not as well known. Anecdotally, while taking the survey, many respondents commented that they were unsure how to answer this.

3. The age group of 19 to 26 considers themselves to be the least accountable in all areas of their lives, and on the Internet, and is also the group LEAST likely to use Covenant Eyes.

4. The age group 27 to 35 considers themselves to be more accountable than other age groups in all areas of their lives, and on the Internet, and is also the group MOST likely to use Covenant Eyes. One suggested interpretation of this is that this age group is the group most likely to have children at home, and thereby most likely to perceive the need for and to seek accountability.

5. Of all groups, Covenant Eyes users consider themselves most accountable in all areas of life, as well as on the Internet.

I have had covenant eye for a week and I am really really disappointed when I received a message from one of my allies who stated that I had visited a virtual partner website. This was some sort of virtual sex thing. I remembered that I had not visited such a site at all. I checked the date and looked through the history and for some reason the page had been visited five times in my history. I know for a fact I didn’t visit such a website. It makes no sense to me how on earth this could have happened. Was it a pop up, how did the browser not even restrict access or allow such a site to be visited. It makes no sense to me.

I would love to hear an explanation and share screenshots if necessary
